Concussion has forced Crusaders and All Blacks captain Richie McCaw out of Sunday’s [NZT) match against the Stormers in Cape Town.

After suffering a blow to his head in last weekend’s game against the Force in Perth, McCaw suffered headaches during the week.

McCaw has suffered concussions in the past and it was decided on Friday morning that he would not play.

Coach Todd Blackadder said McCaw would be monitored in line with head injury protocols and was considered a likely starter for next weekend’s game against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.

The captaincy of the side will revert to No.8 Kieran Read while Matt Todd will replace McCaw with Jonathon Poff joining the reserves.
