After a scoreless 1st period, Bryan Bickell put the Chicago Black Hawks up 2 with a shorthanded and power-play goal in the 2nd. The Hawks seemed to lay back on their 2-0 lead, but Kris Letang scored 2 in the third and the regulation game ended in a tie. After 15 penalties in the 3 periods the box remained empty for OT, but nobody scored. The Hawks were not able to score on J. Zatkoff in the shootout, but James Neal and Sidney Crosby got by N. Khabibulin and the Hawks went down 3-2 . The Winnipeg Jets faired no better in their game against the Edmonton Oilers. Chris Thorburn put the jets up 1-0 late in the 1st, but Jesse Joensuu and Will Action got the only two other goals in the second period. The Jets went down 2-1 . Not a very exciting game for a true hockey fan, but for those that enjoy the rougher side, there was hooking, charging, roughing, tripping, holding, and high sticking. Let’s hope the regular season sees more hockey talent and less combat.
